A sailing experience is often unpredictable, exciting and multidimensional. Offshore racing is a lot of fun, but it also involves risk coupled with unyielding competition and relentless teamwork.
While it requires the crew to develop characteristics like proactivity and the agility needed to face severe rain, storms, howling winds and violent currents, it represents a fantastic opportunity to surpass oneself and grow stronger both physically and mentally.
Over the years, sailing has grown into something more than a sport. It has become a lifestyle, a source of inspiration not just for the participants and the spectators, but the challenges faced and overcome can also be likened to those that teams in companies deal with over the course of their careers. Sailing can represent a metaphor of life and its many challenges.
“A smooth sea never made a skillful sailor” – Whitson Gordon
Organisational teams are like crews who develop the skills and resilience to stay strong in the face of the challenges of theworld (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous) with a mindset of growth and a relentless focus on sustainability. As a matter of fact, a number of organisations globally are inspired by the positive effect of sailing for it portrays principles they stand for and operate by.
Sailing into a cleaner and more promising future
Here at Leyton, we are partnering with Arthur le Vaillant, a talented navigator and a top athlete, for the “Route du Rhum” race, which sets sail in November 2018.
We joined forces with Arthur by building on technology, ecology and an adventurous mindset to create the Class40 Leyton – a sailboat equipped with cutting-edge technology that minimises the ecological footprint down to almost zero. This partnership is an illustration of Leyton’s strong commitment to the preservation of our planet and a sustainable world for our future generations.
We are keen to see Arthur embark on this exciting adventure and hope this would transmit the message of innovative and sustainable technology to inspire the world of business to sail into a cleaner and more promising future.
