Key Duties and Responsibilities :

The successful candidate will be involved in preparing R&D tax claims for clients from a broad spectrum of industries, with a key focus on handling the financial and tax technical aspects. They will work closely with our clients, our in house team of scientists and engineers andHMRC to ensure successful completion of optimised R&D tax relief claims.

The candidate will report to the R&D Tax Manager. This is a dynamic client facing role that will require the successful candidate to demonstrate self-initiative in collectively owning each project with team mates and a keen-to-learn outlook from day one.   • Ensuring that each claim meets the requirements of legislation and HMRC guidelines from a financial & technical point of view
  • Compilation of R&D tax relief and credit claims with a focus on financial/tax aspects
  • Project management for claims i.e. continuously liaising with clients, colleagues and HMRC to ensure claims are optimised within strict deadlines and processed subsequently by HMRC
  • Quality review of claims
  • HMRC audit management and assistance for clients’ claims

Candidate Requirements :

A background in UK corporation tax compliance is essential. Experience of dealing with R&D Tax Relief or HMRC is preferable. The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • ATT qualified with primary experience in UK corporation tax compliance
  • HMRC audit experience – either dealing with HMRC with respect to R&D tax relief claims or having worked at HMRC R&D specialist units
  • Strong interest in applying the R&D concept to a wide range of industrial sectors is a must
  • Keen interest in scientific or technological developments
  • Experience in optimising capital allowances would be an added advantage
  • Excellent organisational skills, communication skills and IT skills are essential
  • Team player and ability to work on own initiative
